Is NaxLex shut down?

The questions students ask first when the site stops loading.

Why isn't NaxLex working?

NaxLex isn't working because a federal court in New York ordered NaxLex.com shut down on 21 August 2026, in a lawsuit brought by Elsevier and ATI. The court later granted a preliminary injunction that keeps it offline for the rest of the case. Login and payment problems are a result of that order, not a technical fault on your side.

Is the NaxLex site down?

Yes. NaxLex.com is down and is expected to stay down while the case continues. The court order bars the people behind it from running NaxLex.com or any similar site, and from using servers, domains or payment processors for it. Clearing your browser cache or trying another device won't bring it back.

When did NaxLex shut down?

The court signed the shutdown order on 21 August 2026, one day after Elsevier and ATI filed their lawsuit. The order was kept sealed until 10 September 2026, which is when most students started noticing the site was gone and searching for answers.

Is NaxLex shut down for good?

For now, yes. A preliminary injunction keeps NaxLex.com offline for as long as the court case runs. A permanent shutdown would come only with a final judgment, but there is no sign the site will return.

Will NaxLex come back?

Not while the case is running. The injunction bars the defendants from operating NaxLex.com or any similar site, their payment accounts are frozen, and companies that host or process payments for the site have been ordered to stop.

Is there a new NaxLex site or app?

There is no legitimate replacement. The court order bans the defendants from running any website, social media account or online service that sells the disputed content. Treat any site, app, Telegram channel or WhatsApp group claiming to be the "new NaxLex" as a scam or a breach of the order, and don't pay it.

Why was NaxLex sued?

What the case is about, in plain language.

Who sued NaxLex?

Two nursing-education companies: Elsevier Inc., which owns the HESI exams, and Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI), which makes the ATI TEAS and ATI proctored exams. They filed the case together on 20 August 2026 in the Southern District of New York.

Why was NaxLex sued?

Elsevier and ATI make two main accusations:

  1. Copied exam content: that NaxLex reproduced and sold their registered, copyrighted assessment questions and built test banks from them.
  2. Proxy test-taking: that NaxLex sold a service in which paid stand-ins logged into secure, proctored exams and took them in students' names.

These became claims of copyright infringement, tortious interference and fraud.

What is proxy test-taking?

Proxy test-taking is when someone else secretly sits an exam in your name. In the NaxLex case, the companies allege paid stand-ins gained remote access to ATI and Elsevier's secure testing platforms and completed proctored exams while making it look as though the registered student was testing.

Who owns NaxLex?

According to the court filings, NaxLex.com was run through two companies, Naxlex Prep LLC and Naxlex Global LLC, and an individual named as a defendant, Geoffrey Kimang'a. Up to 20 unnamed "Doe" defendants are also listed. These are allegations in an ongoing case, not findings of guilt.

Is NaxLex legit?

NaxLex was a real company with real paying customers, but a federal judge found Elsevier and ATI likely to prove it sold copies of their copyrighted exam content and ran a proxy test-taking service. Those allegations have not been proven at trial, but the court shut the site down and froze its payment accounts.

Has NaxLex been found guilty?

No. This is a civil case, and nothing has been proven at trial. To grant the emergency order, the judge had to find that Elsevier and ATI were likely to succeed on their claims, which she did. A final ruling could still go either way.

What did the court order NaxLex to do?

The order:

  • shuts down NaxLex.com and any similar website or social media account;
  • bars the use of servers, domains, cloud storage, ad services and payment processors for those sites;
  • freezes accounts with payment processors (it names Stripe, PayPal and Cash App), banks and crypto exchanges;
  • bans the defendants from accessing ATI and Elsevier platforms;
  • orders all records preserved and allows sales records back to August 2023 to be subpoenaed.
What happens next in the NaxLex case?

The preliminary injunction stays in force while the case continues. The defendants can respond in court; if they don't, the companies can ask for a default judgment. The case could also end in a settlement or go to trial. Any of these can take months.

What happens to my NaxLex account and progress?

Treat your account, saved scores and notes as lost. The site is offline and the people behind it are barred from running it. List your weak areas from memory now so you can rebuild your study plan elsewhere.

Can I get a refund from NaxLex?

Not from NaxLex directly, because its payment accounts are frozen. Your best route is your bank or card issuer: ask for a chargeback because the service was not delivered. See our NaxLex refund guide for step-by-step help.

Will my school find out I used NaxLex?

No one can say for certain. The court allowed Elsevier and ATI to subpoena NaxLex's sales records, including each buyer's city and state. The lawsuit itself targets the operators, not students, and buying a study subscription is very different from using the alleged proxy service.

Is using NaxLex cheating?

It depends what you used. Paying someone to sit your exam is cheating, and studying from content copied from secure exams can break school or ATI rules. Ordinary practice questions are not cheating. Read the full answer.
